Statement on Aria2-Explorer Being Removed from Microsoft Store 🆕

···

As many of you know, our extension was removed from the Microsoft Store by the Microsoft extension team, citing that it contained malicious software.

According to Microsoft, the reason given was: The product Aria2 Explorer was investigated and found to contain or direct to suspicious domains.

Hereby we solemnly declare: The code we submitted to both the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store and the Chrome Web Store has always been identical to the publicly available code on GitHub. It does not include any malicious code, nor does it collect user privacy data in any form.

We have rejected countless advertising deals and acquisition offers ( as a download tool, we hold sensitive permissions, which makes us a prime target for gray-market actors ). Our only goal has been to provide a safe, reliable, clean, and user-friendly download tool. Unfortunately, Microsoft’s action has damaged our reputation. After multiple failed attempts to communicate with the Microsoft Edge team, we are forced to suspend maintenance and updates on the Edge Store. Unless Microsoft provides a more detailed explanation or evidence, we cannot proceed further.

We recommend all Microsoft Edge users install and continue using Aria2 Explorer from the Chrome Web Store. Please leave reviews and share your real experience in the store — this is the best way to support our project.

At the same time, we also encourage you to support the Aria2-Manager project.

Finally, we sincerely thank our over 100,000 users for your trust and support.
